Water weight is when your body holds on to excess water. This can be caused by several factors. Try following the tips below to lose excess water weight.

Reduce Sodium

Salt causes water retention. By focusing more on whole foods rather than processed foods and therefore eating less salt your body is less likely to hold on to water. You can also avoid adding extra salt to meals to help eliminate any water weight.

Hydration is key

Drink at least 8 to 9 glasses of water daily. It's important to get the balance right as drinking too much water can be counterproductive and actually cause water weight.  Drinking tea or coffee can help as the caffeine has a diuretic effect.. If you're not a fan of tea or coffee you could try drinking a herbal tea like dandelion which is also a natural diuretic.

Eat More Fiber

Foods containing fiber absorbs water as it passes through the body helping to reduce water weight along the way.

Herbs like parsley and ginger can be added to meals and have a diuretic effect on the body helping to reduce water retention.
